I actually disagree with that. We’ve played some lessor teams, sure. But during those weeks, this team has grown as a team. We’re finally starting to see Brandin Cooks get involved, which has made a big difference in the offense overall. We’re seeing Lamb emerge as one of the top 3 WRs in the league, and our offensive line is coming together. Even Tyron Smith is playing well again. That’s encouraging. On defense, we’re seeing DaRon Bland emerge as possibly the best CB in the entire league. I’d argue he’s definitely up there because he can play the running game.
The biggest thing I noticed earlier in the season was the confidence level of Dak Prescott. Our so-called fanbase doesn’t do him any favors with their unrealistic expectations. And when I say unrealistic, I mean, pathetically unrealistic. I think to myself, who does that? Apparently, we do, even though some of these haters aren’t even actually fans of the team. Yet our fans go around parroting their perspectives. It’s insane. We need new pronouns for these folks. I notice several of our members even have YouTube channels where they claim to be Cowboys Haters.. If that doesn’t tell you something about the source of where some of these uneducated opinions about our players come from, you don’t have the capacity to be convinced.
To my point, McCarthy has been outstanding since the San Diego game. All I wanted that game was for Dak to snap back, and Dak snapped back and then some. He’s playing like the top QB in the league the past month. I give credit to all of his teammates. But this team is coming together. We’re even seeing our WRs on the bottom of the roster get in there and make plays. I love that more than anything.
Anyway, I just wanted to jump on the McCarthy bandwagon, if there is one. He’s made all the correct adjustments. He’s not running the ball up the middle every other play. And he opened this offense up. If this team can play to its potential, we have a decent shot this year.
I’m not a Super Bowl or bust guy anyway. I would rather be in the playoffs 8 out of 10 years rather than make the playoffs one year and make it to the Super Bowl. But that’s just me. Because I know I’m going to be a fan of the same team next year, and the year after that, and so on.
Kudos to McCarthy for steering this ship in the right direction. I was a bit skeptical that he could handle the extra duties, but he’s done a fabulous job lately.
