In that regard, in that kind of do or die environment, it can get kind of toxic. Reality television, social media, and a backstabbing, and a social-ladder-climbing culture doesn’t help, especially these younger minds when some of them haven’t even fully developed their brains.
However, the block on Sam Williams that I saw looked fine. Any contact after the whistle was just soft hands. .Nothing personal. He’s competing too. The contact was a tad after the whistle, but to me, it looked like Williams was looking for a fight. Maybe you want a team that fights, but only when you have to fight. Otherwise, don’t fight guys who are already your teammates. How well the other guy plays can impact your paycheck. Good relationships, integrity, and trust can build a team that’s actually more talented.
My best teams were always the teams where I had good friends on the field with me, whether it be baseball or football. I never once fought against those friends, although I would absolutely fight for them.
I don’t know. I just sense that the fighting from Sam Williams was something that should not have been brought onto the field. In the offseason, he’s talking about raising awareness about gang violence, and shooting. Then on the field, acting petty like a gangster. Instead of being a leader, Parsons goes full thug mode and some other fight starts. I still like all of these players. But they need to clean this stuff up. They should fight as a team, for each other, like brothers would.. Not like some bandana wearing gangsters.
The only person I saw who did the right thing was Biadasz. He knocked over the dude acting like a street thug. That should have been that.
It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This is a game that should be played with a little more class.
