Fans Also Thought We Were Bad in the 90s

Could it be be? That McCarthy has outsmarted himself? Maybe somehow/? He’s just trolling with his team as being the underdog? In the beginning of the season, I also wanted him to come out here and have his team ready to win every game. Like, leave no doubt.. But then I remember . . . even Jimmy’s teams struggled early on and the Cowboys, just being who they are, have to come back from a bad start and finish the season.

We’ve had an easy year or so that I can remember, but I also remember years when fans would cry about how bad we were. there in the 90s — until we weren’t bad.

I’ll be honest. I was an Oilers fan back in the 80s. Warren Moon was the quarterback; Ernest Given, was their number 1, and the guy I always tried to emulate was Drew Hill. They were a dual threat and ran a very interesting offense, which I would like to see the Cowboys run some today — like a run and shoot, WCO style approach.

Those were the days!

"I’d trade a concussion for a reception," Ernest Givens

But that was right before I also became interested in the Cowboys. And, at the time, my girlfriend’s little brother was a Cowboys fan and we went with him to see the Cowboys training camp at St. Eds. It was some Hollywood-level stuff, as far as I could see. Our nerdy local reporters thought they were big stuff reporting on the Cowboys and Jimmy Johnson, trolling around in a golf cart with Jerral Wayne. I got an autograph. Some dude on special teams.

Anyway, so I followed with him and them that year, and the rest is history. Oilers left town and, of course, those Cowboys teams during those years were super entertaining, and so I have just always kind of rolled with it ever since.

I seem to always remember a few slow starts, and a few losses throughout the following Super Bowl runs. In 1992, we lost the first two games, but then went 13-3, which was interesting enough to keep me hooked, for the two following runs, which we finished at 12-4.

The thing is, once you’re in, it’s a tournament. All we have to do is beat the Eagles. If we meet San Fran again, so be it. Hopefully, you learned all you could from that game.

I’m still enjoying the season knowing my team is in it.

You’re usually going to have a loss here and there, and even the 17 Patriots got beat in the championship game.

We just need to get to the playoffs. Like McCarthy says, it’s just like anything else: there’s more than one way to win it. So get in, and take care of business from there.

Why are Cowboys fans so soft? So sensitive to the, "what have you won in 30 years" retort?

Have you all gotten soft?

Haha.
