I was concerned in camp that this team needed to add more depth at the cornerback position as we were 1 injury away from last year happening all over again. Sure enough, Diggs goes down after 2 weeks into the season. Now we have to rely on our 3 starters, one being 33 years old for the rest of the season. Huge step back after these three, as we have the likes of Noah Igbin who was a 1st rd bust, along with the likes of Nashon Wright/Eric Scott. Muku is more of a hybrid. Perfect world, they trade for a veteran corner, but that will be difficult, perhaps they trade for a corner who is on his last year of his contract from a team that looks to rebuilding. Here are some names to consider:
-CJ Henderson Carolina-with Horn down for multiple weeks, they won’t be trading another top corner.
-Saq Griffen Houston-many remember him as the former Seahawk corner.
-Marcus Peters Las Vegas
-K. Fulton Tenn-he has a better chance of being resigned then traded.
Corners are like offensive lineman, you never have enough and teams throughout the league lack quality depth.
As for Diggs, since he had this injury so early, there is a chance he could be ready at the start of next year’s camp. Keeping Gilmore beyond this year makes some sense, but it is time to draft another future starting corner.
