Takes on The Seattle Game

1. Will Grier is not making the 53. Dak and Rush are the only QB’s active. Grier makes fundamental mistakes (like throwing back across his body) and really offers no more than any of the other 31 third string quarterbacks in NFL camps right now.

2. Deuce Vaughn is RB 2. The Cowboys are keeping Rico Dowdle but it’s hard to justify not getting the ball in Deuce’s hands around ten times a game.

3. The backup o-line remains a mess. Waletzko was bad and then he got hurt again. None of the interior guys played well to my untrained eyes. I think the only player that got some decent blocks was Asim Richards.

4. Jalen Tolbert is now good enough that the Cowboys might have to give him some snaps when the games count.

5. Losing Overshown is a major blow. Now the backup LB’s are Cox and Harper unless Dallas finds some guys on the waiver wire. Overshown was Jayron Kearse 2.0 and I think Quinn was planning on using him a lot this season. Now it looks like that waits until 2024.

6. Rough game for Eric Scott, but leaving him in single coverage really isn’t a fair evaluation. He did have one nice PBU that I remember.

7. Rough game for Viliami Fehoku. He bites hard on misdirection plays. And on one snap I saw a tight end stonewall him one on one.

8. Dennis Houston has ability. With the WR room so crowded I wonder if the Cowboys can trade him for a late pick come cutdown time.
