This year, we have talent at all the passing positions.
That’s why I say, we’re a passing team first.
In previous years, it was all about the run. But the runner really can’t be the best he can be unless a good defense is facing a formidable passing attack. That’s why I say Dak is finally in the perfect position. No longer will it be, run, run, throw the ball and get-us-out-of-a-jam, please, Dak; instead, it’s more about go out there and play ball, and loosen up the defense, so we can run on them.
The league has been shifting this way for about a decade. It just so happens, the Cowboys were the last ones to get the memo.
Now they’re finally on board. If they can remember one thing, as they roll into the post season, it should be that they have to pass the ball first. If you’re not passing, you’re probably not going to do much in the run game. So we must pass first. Then ,we not only lean on the run because we’re now forcing the defense to have to pass, we’re controlling the ball, and getting out front as we run the clock and increase the lead.
That’s a good formula for winning games. It’s nice to see they can do it over the past month. I just want to see them pull it off over the next few games.
As far as Dak, I only wanted him to win away at the Chargers. He did that. It’s all I wanted. And now, everything else has been up to him to get done. The players are behind Dak. And, contrary to many amongst us, i"m pulling for Dak, too, and all of his teammates.
He’s got all the weapons, and I can see what kind of quarterback Dak is, and I believe many haven’t given him a fair shot at being what he can truly be. He just has to do it. Until then, he will have haters. If that isn’t like buying your friends, what is?
Anyway, I, too, want to see Dak out there winning games. But if he doesn’t, it won’t change my opinion of him. Romo was nearly as good as Elway, but Elway won a Super Bowl. It was just different eras. Though, don’t get me wrong. I see the argument for both. I just believe Romo was on his level, and you couldn’t sway me any differently because I know Romo had it in him to win one. I always knew Elway did too. That said, I put Dak right up there with both of those guys right now. He may win, he may not. But he’s as good as those guys. What else do you want?
Anyway, you can’t do that without weapons. And that’s why I like our depth from top to bottom. They can all contribute From Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, Turpin, Tolbert, and Brooks. You can even put Duece out there in passing formations. Add to that, Jake Ferguson has been stepping up at big moments. And you can’t ask for much more from him, coming in as a 4th round pick.
Some people take the negative perspective about this team; I choose to look at the positive. You usually get better by increasing what you’re good at. Though, that also means working on your weaknesses. Dak does a good job at there, with what he has to work with.
Any quarterback has losses, and many had lower win percentages against good teams. That’s just how sports works. That’s why those teams are winning teams. And, it doesn’t always come down to Dak anyway. That’s what the fools amongst us think because there’s also a reason it’s called winning team.
The depth around Dak is the reason I think we potentially have one. Anyone can win it if they get to the playoffs. So, now, is when we should start preparing for then.
