At the start of training camp, each NFL team is allowed 90 players on its roster. I was interested in knowing the breakdown of the players according to the college conference they played in (Rookies were counted in the conference they played in 2023 before the huge realignment we are starting in 2024 in College football)
HERE ARE THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS FROM EACH CONFERENCE:
- SEC: 18
- Big 10: 15
- Big 12: 12
- PAC 12: 9
- Mountain West: 7
- Conference USA: 6
- ACC: 5
- AAC: 4
- Notre Dame (FBS Independent) 3
- Sun Belt: 3
- FCS: 3 (Non-Div I schools)
- SWAC: 2
- MAC: 2
- International/No College: 1
Not surprising to see that the players from the SEC, Big 10 and Big 12 make up over 50% of the roster. I was a little surprised to see the Mountain West had 7 players and Conference USA 6. It will be interesting see the final 53 man roster and practice squad members selected and what the conference breakdown will be then.
