He’s 30 years old.
Us fans, as spoiled as we are, look at Dak like a wife who is out of our league to start with. Then, on top of that, we throw insults at him that have to hit on a personal level. The old ad hominem, towards Dak. He’s a player. Never could some words from some random guy online get through to a player and impact his life or even play on the field. And, you know, maybe have an impact on making him feel depressed.
We draft these guys, and our fans expect them to be robotic, and leave the whole being human thing off-the-field . . . and out of the locker room interviews, and they deal with all types of people, insulting them.
No, I mean, really, stop and think about that part of it for a minute. Stop and think, maybe if you’re an opponent and you want Dallas to lose. In the age of AI, that is relatively easy. Just program some bots to make commentary, about Dak: change the narrative, the tone, the moral, which impacts the psychology and environment Dak Prescott is living in.
We can say social media, Y’ew Tube, Fakebook, Instant Glam, doesn’t have an impact on any of this. But it does. In fact, it’s where a whole lot of the money is, which makes it an even bigger platform, and it all gets played out, like a reality show.
Personally, I don’t even care if we win the Super Bowl or not. You can say "muh twentthcy theven yurs" until you’re blue in the face, but I’m looking at this long-term. I look at Dak right now, and I say that is a guy who could actually get us 2-3 Super Bowls in his career. It’s likely, he’ll never be in a really healthy environment, centered around babying an egomaniacal quarterback like Brady. But personally, I’m glad it’s not like that for Dak. He’ll have to earn it. But straight up, Dak is a stud. Has always been a stud, and if you’re basing your criticism for the Cowboys on Dak not being a good quarterback, you don’t really hold any weight, in my eyes. And if you say the Cowboys problem is Dak, the same goes.
I’ve pretty much always supported Dak. I probably always will. But only because I’m not a win or you’re not my friend kind of guy. Even though I like to win, I realize, it’s not quite that easy. But I still think Dak is a top 5 QB, and right now he’s playing like a top 3. For me, I’ve argued our flaw has always been about being too insistent on the Emmitt Smith style, and the insistence of fans to want to be a running team. Jerry has always caved to that demand. And they started out that way earlier this season. Maybe they were trying to hide it. But it’s quite evident right now. We’re a passing team. This team goes as Dak goes. If you scheme around his strengths, you have the players for a guy like Dak to succeed at the highest level.
Plus, look at him. That’s a guy who could play well past his 40s. And his only getting better; more experienced, and has one of the best arms in the league. Our identity is a passing team. A good running game to compliment that is all the better and what he needs. But the way you win with Dak is you cut him loose, but play around his strengths. Because, Dak is that guy. He’s been about football for a long, long time for anyone who cares to go back and look at it. He obviously works at it, and has chemistry with these guys from playing in the Dak yard.
Anyway, my last thoughts are that if our fanbase would stop with making it all personal and really got behind Dak, whether he wins or loses, we actually do have the kind of player who doesn’t always come around. We just got lucky with Romo.. otherwise, we would have been in QB purgatory for a long time.
Then along came Dak.
That means, no Vinny T, no Bledsoe, no Anthony Wright, No Ryan Leaf. As much as I liked Quincy, his fate was sealed by Bill Parcells.
Nope, just a smooth transition from Romo to Dak with a player on the same level as Romo, if not even better, even more athletic. Again, Dak is only 30-years-old. It’s feasible to think he could play for another 8 years. He plays with a different style, so-to-speak, but like Romo’s style, Dak’s style works out for him. So, I don’t get it. Like, some of our fans aren’t paying attention. He’s been on a streak. If a guy like Brock Purdy can go on a streak like 13 games, so can Dak. Maybe he won’t.
It’s all going to come down to how our team plays, and if we’re for real or not. I have a feeling we smoke Philly, just like the 9ers smoked ’em.
