Firstly, Micah Parsons. Need I say more?
Secondly, I want to give Dan Quinn a game ball. As always, he’s been phenomenal.
Thirdly, I’m giving a game ball to Mike McCarthy. For as much smack as he gets from people, he’s been a genius these first two games. He’s put the offense in a position to succeed. He’s helped Dak to have solid games. He’s two games in with no turnovers. Look at Kellen Moore with the Chargers. They’re 0-2. The difference between Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore is night and day. The plays may not always work, but it’s amazing to see that there is a clear plan, strategy, and purpose behind the drives and plays that are called. The plays are designed to be quickly called and executed. It’s wonderful how quickly the ball is thrown from the time Dak takes the snap. We don’t see Dak having to try to buy time and wait for a WR to get open. There’s usually a WR open, or Dak is clearly being encouraged to run it more. I’ve been pounding the table for the WCO, and Mike is implementing it beautifully.
The final game ball for this game goes to Brandon Aubrey. He’s been a star so far for us. He reminds me of Dan Bailey with a stronger leg or Mason Crosby. This is vital because Mike, dating back to Green Bay, wasn’t afraid to settle for 3 if he had a reliable kicker and if the game situation fit the need for a field goal to be kicked. When he’s been needed, Aubrey has looked great. I remember watching him in the USFL Championship game, and he really has been fantastic. Well done to him! I think we finally have a kicker.
A few of the other shout-outs go to our oline, our secondary, and our TEs. Our oline was sensational keeping the vaunted Jets DLine at bay the way they did. Our secondary was sensational today against the Jets weapons (set up by our DLine playing well). Finally, our TEs were catching the ball much better.
I love it when we win games the way we did today. We played a smart and efficient game. It’s beautiful seeing that we have competent coaching. If we had Jason Garrett or Kellen Moore, this game would’ve had the makings of a letdown game. Except, we actually have competent coaches who know what they’re doing. It makes a massive difference.
