Cowboys huge shutout win could be symbolic

Everyone appears to be boasting over our surprising and dominating 40-0 slaughter of the Giants. To place it in historical context it compares to two other opening season blowout and shutout performances.

1978 we opened on Monday night whooping up on the Colts 38-0. And in 1995 we opened shutting out the Giants 35-0.

Both eras the Cowboys were proven and legit SB contenders. 1978 we were coming off our 2nd SB win and of course 1995 we were coming off one of our most frustrating NFC championship losses.

The common denominator in both of those season opening shutout blowout wins were both years we ended up in the Super Bowl. While this team doesn’t have any proven championship experience they are coming off consecutive 12 win playoff seasons which only other time we achieved that is our SB era runs.

So the table is set for this 2023 team. The SB Hype I’ve tried to withstand until further evidence is here. I know it’s only one game and it could still turn for the worse . But at least this team begun the season living up to the hype .
